Research Interests: Stigma on mental health within minority populations; minority retention rates, objectification and violence in the media; sexual violence on college campuses.

Research Project Title: The relation of Music Videos to Sexual Consent Negotiation

Current Research: My current research focuses on sex, violence, and the objectification of women in popular media and the impact it has on adolescents and emerging adults.

 

Plans for the Future: I am applying Ph.D. programs in Counseling Psychology with the hopes of starting graduate school in the fall of 2016. My long-term goal is working as a counselor at a university implementing programs to increase ethnic minority retention rates in higher education.

Experience and development as a McNair Scholar: My experience in the McNair Program has extremely helpful, rigorous, and fulfilling. I have had the opportunity to learn so much about graduate school, research and academia. I have no idea where I would be if it were not for the McNair Program, my fellow scholars and staff who have provided me with so encouragement, knowledge and support.
