Haley Delgado

Haley Delgado is one of our scholars currently working with the School of Molecular Biosciences in Dr. Watt’s lab that uses Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism to study the function of lipid pathways. Her research focuses specifically on the knockdown of the gene F22F7.1 within Caenorhabditis elegans. Through RNAi, and the gene F22F7.1, She will be able to observe phenotypic differences of lipid droplet quantity and localization. Alterations to gene regulatory proteins… that are involved in oxidation reduction processes have been closely intertwined with understanding Cancer, Diabetes, and fat regulatory pathways involved in obesity and related diseases. She plans on finishing her bachelors degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology so that she can apply to Molecular Biology or Genetics masters and doctoral programs. Her future goals include having her own research lab or research foundation that specifically works towards researching autoimmune diseases, and metabolic pathways.
