Nicole Cristobal: Former Graduate Assistant

After preparing diligently for graduate school over the last couple of years, our graduating McNair scholars are finally starting to reap the benefits of their hard work.  Our scholars have conducted innovative research with the support of a faculty mentor, have presented at various conferences throughout the nation, and have taken the courses necessary for placement and success in graduate school.  Mulling through the often tedious graduate school application process, our scholars have acquired the skill of identifying programs to apply to that will be of optimal fit based on factors such as faculty research interests.

Our scholars have also crafted strong statements and curriculum vitaes and earned strong recommendation letters.  Collectively, our scholars applied to over 50 programs across the nation. A particular McNair scholar, Rosalinda Godinez, has accepted admission to the Ph.D. program in Education, Social and Cultural Studies at the University of California, Berkeley where she received a Fellowship that will fund her graduate education.  Currently, our scholars have been accepted to a total of eighteen programs and are still hearing back from a majority of those they applied to.  We are excited to see where they end up not only for their graduate education, but for their promising professional endeavors.
